Online Community Engagement
TakingITGlobal.org is an online community that inspires young people to make a difference, acts as a source of information on global issues and for opportunities to take action. It operates fully in a dozen languages on the most technically sophisticated platform available online.
Educational Engagement
TakingITGlobal operates educational programs that connect TakingITGlobal with the formal education system. We focus our efforts on helping educators find meaningful ways to use technology in schools, creating curriculum and online learning tools that introduce students to global issues. We also provide tools aimed at helping educators integrate relevant, innovative learning experiences happening outside their school environments.
Issue-based Initiatives
TakingITGlobal regularly mobilizes young people around specific global challenges, through network weaving, award processes, financing, mentorships and events. Current priorities include the UN Millennium Development Goals, the Digital Divide, HIV/AIDS and Climate Change.
Local Engagement
TakingITGlobal recognizes that our programs only hold relevance for young people if we: make them accessible in their local languages; provide connection to local opportunities; reflect their communities,and include those without Internet access. Through local engagement, we seek to make TakingITGlobal.org fully multilingual, hold in-person TakingITGlobal Open Forums and in some countries build intensive partnerships which expand content and outreach.
Technology Collaborations
TakingITGlobal connects and empowers youth-based organizations to do their work more effectively. We focus our efforts on providing these organizations with customized online forums for network weaving, global knowledge sharing and management. These online forums provide them with greater continuity and collaboration. In addition, our internship program sends young people to build the the capacities of key organizations within the youth movement.
